My first boat ‚Spring Shandy‘ was a Graduate dinghy. This is 1961 and I am 13. I cringe when I see my choice of sail colours – red and yellow – hand made by Ratsey Lapthorne in Cowes.
After that I have had a string of other dinghy classes. Flirted with a Flying Dutchman in 1967 but serious sailing has been mostly OK dinghies – I think I have had more than ten of these.

Good times with Flying Fifteens.
Had a Solo until I fell off the stable roof.
The 2.4mR happened when I realised I couldn’t pull myself back into a capsized dinghy as right arm and shoulder don’t work as they should.
That was in 1966.
